be active: let’s work to fulfill MLK’s {our} dream in our own way
Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is a celebration of Dr. King’s legacy and a reminder of the work we still have to do in order to fulfill his dream, which in essence is all of our collective dream. This day also serves as a remembrance of all the amazing leaders of yesterday that sacrifice their lives for the greater good of humanity. Whether their names are known or not, these incredible individuals show us our powerful potential. We do not have to be global leaders to serve our community, to think about the whole first instead of our own parcel, to be so passionate in our compassion for others that no fear will stop us to love. The deliverance of a dream can manifest the reality of love if we truly believe in the dream first and be active in it. We all have a lot of work to do internally and externally but it’s work that does not have to be harsh or hard. It’s the kind of work that can flow easily as water if we stop resisting the waves and allow love to be unconditional, patient and kind. On this special day, I pray that we do a little more to love ourselves and each other so that one day “this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.’”
