be active: laugh, laugh and laugh some more for your health’s sake

I know you have heard the old saying that “Laughter is the best medicine” but did you know that it is scientifically true? According to Psychology Today, there is factual evidence that laughter truly is an action that improves health in multiple ways. Laughter reduces pain, discomfort and improves job performance and relationships. This action also helps a person’s blood in multiple ways–reduces blood sugar and helps blood vessel function better. “It acts on the inner lining of blood vessels, called the endothelium, causing vessels to relax and expand, increasing blood flow. In other words, it’s good for your heart and brain, two organs that require the steady flow of oxygen carried in the blood.” Laughter does a whole lot more as well. listen & love: flaws and all

Flaws and All
by Beyonce

I’m a train wreck in the morning
I’m a bitch in the afternoon
Every now and then without warning
I can be really mean towards you

I’m a puzzle yes indeed
Ever complex in every way
And all the pieces aren’t even in the box
And yet, you see the picture clear as day

I don’t know why you love me
And that’s why I love you
You catch me when I fall
Accept me, flaws and all
And that’s why I love you
And that’s why I love you
And that’s why I love. . . mmmm

I neglect you when I’m working
When I need attention I tend to nag
I’m a host of imperfection
And you see past all that

I’m a peasant by some standards
But in your eyes I’m a queen
You see potential in all my flaws
And that’s exactly what I mean

I don’t know why you love me
And that’s why I love you
You catch me when I fall
Accept me, flaws and all
And that’s why I love you
And that’s why I love you
And that’s why I love. . .you

I don’t know why you love me
And that’s why I love you
You catch me when I fall
Accept me flaws and all
And that’s why I love you
And that’s why I love you
And that’s why I love you
You, you, you

be active: let’s move with the first lady and beyonce!

First Lady Michelle Obama has been getting our youth moving with the Let’s Move! campaign. This campaign has been designed to combat the growing trend of childhood obesity. The trend has been affecting children of color  in particular with 40% of African American and Hispanic children overweight. If this trend continues, then it could lead to the first time a generation has lived a shorter period than the previous generation. In hopes to change this potential outcome, the First Lady has been raising awareness on the  facts of childhood obesity, giving  the basics on good health and nutrition through diet and exercise and receiving help from others like the pop star, Beyonce.

In her newly released remix to Get Me Bodied appropriately titled, Move Your Body, Beyonce encourages her young fans to move their bodies and dance. The song is a great way to get young people up and going since so many love Beyonce and it’s fun for all ages! Check out the choreography yourself and move that body!
